Electric vehicle maintenance & mechanical repair in fitzwilliam, nh

Electric Vehicle Services & Repair

Drive an electric vehicle? While we don't perform EV-specific high-voltage or electric drivetrain repairs, there are still plenty of parts on your vehicle that need regular inspection, maintenance, and repair.

At KG Automotive Solutions in Fitzwilliam, NH, we provide maintenance and mechanical repair for many of the conventional components found on electric vehicles.

That includes areas such as brakes, tires, steering, suspension, and other non-EV-specific mechanical components that electric vehicles share with traditional vehicles.

We serve drivers throughout Fitzwilliam, Rindge, Jaffrey, Troy, Swanzey, Cheshire County, NH, and the Winchendon, MA area.

And we'll always be straightforward about what we can—and cannot—service on your EV.

What EV Services Does KG Automotive Provide?

Electric vehicles eliminate many of the components found in traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, but that doesn't make them maintenance-free.

EVs still have tires, brakes, steering, suspension, wheel bearings, wipers, cabin filters, and other components that wear over time.

Depending on the vehicle and repair, services we may be able to provide include:

  • Tire service and replacement
  • Brake inspection and repair
  • Steering and suspension repair
  • Shocks and struts
  • Wheel bearings and other conventional chassis components
  • Cabin air filter replacement
  • Wiper replacement
  • Digital Vehicle Inspections
  • Other non-EV-specific mechanical maintenance and repairs

If you're unsure whether we can perform the service your EV needs, give us a call.

We'll tell you whether it's something we handle before you make the trip.

What EV Repairs Don't We Perform?

We think it's important to be clear about this.

KG Automotive Solutions is not a high-voltage EV repair facility.

We do not perform diagnosis or repair of EV-specific systems such as:

  • High-voltage traction batteries
  • High-voltage electrical systems
  • Electric drive motors
  • Inverters and other high-voltage power electronics
  • EV charging-system faults
  • EV-specific drivetrain or propulsion problems
  • Other EV-specific electrical diagnosis and repair

If your concern involves one of these systems, your vehicle may need an EV-specialty repair facility or another appropriately equipped service provider.

We'd rather tell you that upfront than bring your vehicle in and pretend to offer a service we don't.

EV Brake Service & Repair

Electric vehicles still use conventional friction brakes even though regenerative braking may handle some of the vehicle's deceleration.

That means brake components still need to be inspected and can require service or repair.

Depending on the vehicle and condition, we can evaluate conventional brake components such as:

  • Brake pads
  • Brake rotors
  • Brake calipers
  • Conventional hydraulic brake components
  • Other mechanical brake components

If the concern involves an EV-specific electronic or regenerative braking system fault, that's different from conventional mechanical brake repair and may be outside the services we provide.

We'll let you know if that's the case.

EV Tire Service

Electric vehicles can place significant demands on their tires.

Vehicle weight, torque, alignment, driving habits, tire design, and other factors can all affect tire wear.

We can help with:

  • Tire inspection
  • Tire replacement
  • Tire rotation
  • Tire-pressure concerns
  • Uneven tire wear evaluation
  • Other conventional tire services

Your tires play an important role in traction, handling, braking, ride quality, and efficiency, regardless of what's powering the vehicle.

Steering & Suspension Repair for Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles still rely on many familiar steering, suspension, and chassis components.

Depending on the vehicle, we may be able to service components such as:

  • Shocks and struts
  • Control arms
  • Ball joints
  • Tie rods
  • Sway-bar components
  • Wheel bearings
  • Other conventional steering and suspension components

If you're experiencing a clunk, vibration, uneven tire wear, poor ride quality, or another mechanical concern, contact us and we'll determine whether it's something we can evaluate and repair.

Electric Vehicles Still Need Inspections

One of the misconceptions surrounding electric vehicles is that because they don't need engine oil changes, they don't need maintenance.

EVs have fewer traditional powertrain maintenance requirements, but mechanical components still wear.

Tires wear.

Brakes can develop problems.

Suspension components wear.

Wheel bearings can fail.

Wipers and cabin filters need replacement.

And New Hampshire potholes, road salt, winter conditions, and rough roads don't care whether your vehicle runs on gasoline or electricity.

Regularly evaluating the conventional mechanical components on your EV can help you understand its condition and plan for maintenance and repairs.

Every Service Visit Includes a Digital Vehicle Inspection

At KG Automotive Solutions, every service visit includes a Digital Vehicle Inspection at no additional charge.

For an electric vehicle, that gives our technicians an opportunity to document visible conditions involving the conventional components we're able to inspect.

When appropriate, that may include areas such as:

  • Tires
  • Conventional brake components
  • Steering and suspension
  • Visible chassis components
  • Wipers
  • Other accessible mechanical conditions

We'll document what we're seeing and communicate it with you.

If we encounter something that appears to involve an EV-specific or high-voltage system that we don't service, we'll tell you.

EV Service Without Pretending We Do Everything

There's a big difference between servicing the mechanical components of an electric vehicle and being equipped to diagnose and repair its high-voltage propulsion system.

We don't believe in blurring that line.

If your EV needs tires, conventional brake work, steering or suspension repair, an inspection, or another mechanical service within our capabilities, we're happy to help.

If it needs specialized EV diagnosis or high-voltage repair, we'll be upfront that it needs to go elsewhere.

That's part of giving you good information about your vehicle.
